Seminar: Termination of Employment, Disciplinary Responsibility, and the Importance of Internal Regulations

At the end of November 2025, Hotel Sky Garni hosted a large number of participants who attended the seminar titled “Termination of Employment, Disciplinary Responsibility, and the Importance of Internal Regulations.”

The seminar was led by attorney Tijana Filipović, Head of the Labor Law Department at our law firm.

During the full-day session, Tijana presented to the participants the key elements related to the termination of employment, with a special focus on legal procedures, the rights and obligations of both employees and employers, and the most common challenges encountered in practice, illustrated with numerous examples from court practice. She thoroughly explained the differences and challenges associated with termination by the employer, resignation by the employee, and mutual agreement to terminate the employment contract, emphasizing the obligation to correctly follow procedures in order to prevent litigation and avoid negative legal consequences.

A special part of the seminar was dedicated to employees’ disciplinary responsibility. Participants had the opportunity to learn how to correctly initiate disciplinary proceedings, the sequence of steps preceding the imposition of a disciplinary measure, and why documenting every breach of work obligations is crucial. Furthermore, the exceptional importance of the employer’s internal regulations was emphasized, as they form the basis for lawful and efficient conduct.

Through clearly structured explanations and practical guidance, the seminar provided a comprehensive overview of one of the most delicate areas of labor law, giving participants a better understanding of how termination and disciplinary procedures are conducted in compliance with regulations.

The bonus part of the lecture was dedicated to presenting numerous examples from our courts’ practice, as well as providing answers to the most common questions we encounter in practice, which further illustrated real-life situations and clarified the most frequent doubts of employers. This part of the full-day seminar appears to have left the greatest impression on the attendees.
